I first met Paul around the first of 2019. We were looking for a tube bender that would bend the elements that we use in our serving systems. These parts have approx. 16 bends in each one and the bends interfere with both the machine and the part itself. Paul modified a VB-100 CNC hand bender so that it could bend these parts for us. Our cycle time to bend a lot size of approx.. 100 parts went from 25 pieces per day to 25 pieces per hour. This machine has generated a huge labor savings for us and has improved the quality and consistency of these parts.
The next machine that we purchased from Paul was a used Soco 50 NC bender. We use this bender to bend the handles for the carts that we manufacture. By making these parts in-house now, it not only saved us a lot of money, but also improved our quality, lead time and allowed us to reduce our inventory to a just in time level.
The last machine we purchased from Paul is a Tube Laser machine. This machine has just recently been installed and we are just getting used to it. We expect that this machine will be a big labor saver, improve our quality, and will eliminate several auxiliary operations that will really increase our efficiencies and help out our profit margins.

Prior to meeting Mr. Paul Howard, West Coast Manufacturing had never bent a tube in house. With our increasing demand for tube bending within our product we began researching various tube bender manufacturers and met Mr. Paul Howard and SOCO at a Fab Tech Show. After taking a close look at several manufacturers, we chose SOCO because of Mr. Howard's extensive Knowledge and "hands on" approach as well as being local to Southern California. Now tube bending is a major part of our business.
We purchased our first Soco SB-63 CNC Auto Bender in April of 2016. They have supplied us all of our bending tooling to date which I have to say is quite extensive. Paul walked us through the first weeks of having the machine showing us how to set up the tooling properly and teaching us the tricks of the trade.
Since then we have purchased a 2nd Soco SB-63 Auto CNC bender from P & R Industrial Sales. This one is the opposite hand rotation which allows us to bend additional parts without part shape interference with the bender.

I first met Paul around March of 2017. We were looking to upgrade our tube bending department. We are still running with older NC tube benders that are very labor intensive. We have been completely around the block on this project. (We looked at adding a cell incorporating robots to possibly upgrading the equipment that we had).
We finally decided to place an order with P & R Industrial Sales for a simple CNC Bender that will be equipped with all new reach adjusted tooling that will virtually eliminate set up times. We will be receiving delivery of this machine later this month.
While we were investigating how we could improve our efficiencies plant wide. Paul introduced us to the Tube Laser machine that Soco manufacturers that he represents though Tube Form Solutions. We purchased a Soco model SLT 180 Tube laser machine that has revolutionized our manufacturing processes. We have been able to reduce manufacturing floor space by eliminating processes that are incorporated by the Tube Laser machine and have been able to really improve our work flow. Our quality has improved dramatically while meeting our objective of reducing our inventory to a just-in-time level.
